Food lovers of the world, unite! Whether you're a seasoned gourmand or just a foodie looking to learn more about Italian cuisine and Roman culinary traditions, join our expert local culinary guide at our meeting point. We'll begin with a walking tour, in a group of no more than 12 people. We'll meet mid-morning and enjoy a delightful walking tour of several local food markets, pantries, and gelato shops in the Campo de' Fiori, Trastevere, and Jewish Ghetto areas. We know exercise makes us hungry, so we thought you might be interested in making a few stops. For example, to enjoy a crispy slice of freshly baked pizza bianca (the Roman version of focaccia) cut in half horizontally and stuffed with fresh mortadella: a tradition, more Roman than the Colosseum, an easy snack that locals love. How about a supplì? This small rice croquette with a heart of tomato sauce and melted mozzarella is everyone's favorite street food. Pasta all'amatriciana, or cacio e pepe, will also be on the list, as will some traditional Roman Jewish dishes: carciofo alla giudia, a Jewish-style fried artichoke that resembles a small sunflower, or fried squash blossoms (season two). And save room for dessert, because we won't leave out the homemade ice cream! Notes: Please note that the tour does not include hotel pick up.
