Activity description
No trip to Italy is complete without seeing what the archaeological city of Pompeii reveals about ancient life. However, few can do so without transportation. Our relaxing Pompeii day trip from Rome will take you on a climate-controlled bus along the Sun Route to discover southern Italy.
Skip the lines in the historic city of Pompeii
From start to finish, you'll be accompanied by an English-speaking tour guide, an expert in this region of Italy. At this acclaimed UNESCO World Heritage Site, your tour guides will handle the lines and ticketing while you enjoy your first glimpse of the half-buried city, shrouded in rubble and ash.
After skipping the lines, you'll meet your own personal archaeologist. They'll guide you through the paved streets preserved for 1,500 years under 20 feet of volcanic ash. Unlike a museum, you'll be able to enter the houses, baths, food shops, and open-air theaters that have preserved much of ancient life.
All-inclusive lunch overlooking Naples
Our acclaimed tour now includes an exceptional lunch experience at an authentic Italian restaurant with panoramic views of the Bay of Naples. Indulge in a delicious all-inclusive meal featuring traditional pizza, an appetizer, and dessert, providing a taste of authentic Italian cuisine. You'll have the chance to recharge your batteries for the journey to Vesuvius that awaits you.
Hike Mount Vesuvius, explore with a geologist, or enjoy Positano.
After Pompeii, the bus will take you to the slopes of Mount Vesuvius (from April to early November), one of Europe's few active volcanoes. Choose the first hiking option, a short walk to the steaming crater, where stunning views of Capri and Sorrento await.
Alternatively, for those intrigued by geology or seeking a less challenging hike, our second option features an experienced geologist guide. They will lead you on an informative exploration, offering insights into the region's geological wonders, making it an ideal choice for those interested in the subject or for those seeking a more moderate hike on Vesuvius.
Mount Vesuvius is closed during the winter, so your bus will follow the coast to Positano (from early November to March). Here, you'll enjoy some pleasant free time, and it's up to you how you choose to spend it. Whether you're relaxing on the stunning beaches, tiptoeing through the winding streets, or shopping for local souvenirs... the opportunities are endless.
