Activity description
The adventure begins when our comfortable minibus picks you up at your accommodation in El Calafate. With everyone on board, we'll embark on a three-hour drive along the legendary National Route 40, a road that crosses the vast and impressive Patagonian steppe. As we continue, the majestic Southern Andes begin to appear on the horizon, crowned by the iconic silhouette of Mount Fitz Roy, a breathtaking spectacle.
Halfway through, we'll make a strategic stop so you can stretch and enjoy the first panoramic views. Upon arrival in El Chaltén, you'll have a short rest before joining you with a specialized trekking guide, who will accompany the group throughout the trek, ensuring a safe and enriching experience.
The trail starts at Puente del Río Eléctrico, just 14 kilometers from El Chaltén. There, you'll be served a private meal before beginning the hike. The first section, a leisurely 6.3-km hike lasting approximately an hour and a half, will take you to the Piedras Blancas Viewpoint, where you can witness the majesty of the glacier of the same name.
From here, you will have two options to continue:
Group 2: If you prefer a more relaxed tour, you'll follow one of our guides to the charming Capri Lagoon, a true natural oasis with spectacular views of Fitz Roy. Here, you'll enjoy lunch surrounded by unique landscapes before beginning the descent to El Chaltén.
Group 1: If you're looking for a challenge, continue towards the famous Laguna de los Tres. This more demanding section, with a 430-meter climb over almost 3 km, will reward you with unforgettable views as you approach the heart of the mountain range. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by the impressive Fitz Roy massif reflected in the lagoon's turquoise waters. It's the perfect spot to have lunch, take photographs, and marvel at the immensity of nature.
After exploring and enjoying this magical retreat, the two groups will meet again at Camp Poincenot to begin the return journey, passing through the Capri Lagoon. Finally, our minibus will return you to El Calafate.
