- Fort Bulnes in Punta Arenas
We will visit the first Chilean settlement in Southern Patagonia, the historic Fort Bulnes, which was established on September 21, 1843. Located on the Santa Ana Peninsula, on the shores of the emblematic Strait of Magellan and just 60 km south of Punta Arenas, this place will transport us to the beginning of Chilean colonization in the region.
We will explore its buildings and learn about the pioneering effort to occupy and protect this remote territory. Surrounded by stunning landscapes and a historic atmosphere, we will have the opportunity to imagine what life was like in this settlement, which marked the beginning of the Chilean presence in Southern Patagonia.
