Activity description
Discover three fantastic Portuguese cities with us: Porto, Nazaré and Óbidos from Lisbon.
Feel comfortable in an air-conditioned vehicle as you begin your journey to the city of Óbidos, where we will begin with a guided tour accompanied by our expert local guide.
Completely surrounded by ancient walls and preserving all its medieval charm, Óbidos is one of Portugal's most famous and visited places, a must-see on the outskirts of Lisbon. The narrow cobblestone streets in Óbidos immediately transport you to a medieval setting. These streets are home to perfectly preserved old houses, historic buildings, important monuments, and, dominating the historic center at the highest point of the town, Óbidos Castle, declared one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal.
You'll start at the village's main gate and discover incredible narrow streets off the beaten track. Visit the secret Jewish quarter and its whitewashed houses, offering great photo opportunities. Stroll along Rua Dereita, the most famous street, lined with traditional shops and restaurants, and reach Óbidos Castle. Built in the 12th century, although it also features Roman structures in its early days, it's arguably one of the largest and best-preserved fortresses in the country, listed as one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. From here, you'll have a clear view of the Great Wall of Óbidos, another of the village's iconic landmarks.
Continue your journey to perhaps Portugal's most famous fishing village, Nazaré, where you'll visit the Fort of São Miguel. This place has become world-famous for the giant wave that hits its shore every winter, attracting surfers from around the world. Next, stroll through the famous Sitio, where the streets feature a collection of religious buildings and are a popular destination for pilgrims from around the globe. Hike to the summit, where you'll find medieval fortifications, 17th-century churches, and modern shrines. Stroll through courtyards and squares surrounded by ornate structures, basilicas, and statues.
Continue your journey to Porto, the last stop of the day. First, you'll have an hour to enjoy a traditional Portuguese lunch alone to recharge your batteries, and then the tour begins. A vibrant 1.5-hour stroll will take you to the stunning Old Town on the picturesque Douro River, complete with six bridges, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Carmen Church, São Bento Station, São Francisco Church, and Dom Luís Bridge.
At the end of your tour, you'll return to central Lisbon and your guide will recommend things to do during the rest of your stay.
