The Cu Chi Tunnels, known as the 'Iron Triangle' during the Vietnam War, are a network of underground tunnels that were used as a military base to resist US forces during the Vietnam War. Cu Chi itself was once known as the 'dead land,' destroyed by millions of bombs. But today, the land is still alive and home to legendary historical structures.
7:30 am: Our guide will pick you up at your hotel to go to the Cu Chi Tunnel for an hour and a half in a minivan.
The peaceful rural landscape of rice paddies features ducks and buffalo swimming in the rivers along the road. It's hard to imagine the destruction, damage, and defoliation throughout the area caused by bombings and mines when Cu Chi was a 'target-free zone.' Afternoon: We'll depart Cu Chi for the two-hour drive to My Tho City. On the way to My Tho, we'll stop at a restaurant for lunch.
Upon arrival in My Tho, the boat takes you to a small canal, a place where you can completely escape the bustling city. The coconut canal boat cruise takes you to a coconut island in Ben Tre. We disembark and take a stroll through the village. We stop with a local family to taste tropical fruits, try honey tea and honey wine, and listen to traditional Vietnamese music performed by the villagers.
We continue walking along the village road to the coconut candy shop, where we learn how to make sweets and are shown some crafts made from coconut palms. We stroll through the two-sided village, where there are many types of fruits, flowers, trees, local houses, and children in the Mekong Delta. Take the time to take beautiful photographs and enjoy the natural scenery.
