Visiting the Museo Andes helps us remember values such as friendship, solidarity, communion, hope, empathy, goal-setting and teamwork.
On Friday, October 13, 1972, a Fairchild 227 with 45 people on board crashed in the Andes. Thus began one of humanity's most incredible survival stories.
The Uruguayan group of young rugby players, their friends and family, were forced to wage a titanic battle against adversity.
The museum is dedicated to the 45 people who were aboard the October 1972 flight and, especially, to the 29 who did not return. It is also a tribute to the 16 compatriots who "came back to life" after 72 long, hellish days of hunger, pain, suffering, despair... and hope for a better tomorrow.
