Montevideo City Tour: Guided tour of Montevideo in a comfortable, air-conditioned minibus, where you can combine walking tours and take photos. During the tour, some of the main points we will visit are the Old City with its Plaza Matriz (Main Square), the Drinking Water Fountain of Colonial Montevideo, the Legislative Palace, Las Leyes Avenue, the Prado residential neighborhood, the Government House, the Obelisk, the Constituents of 1830, Batlle y Ordóñez Park, the Athletics Track, the Carreta Monument, and the Centenario Stadium. The Carrasco residential neighborhood, Rambla Naciones Unidas, Virgilio Square, the Punta Gorda and Malvin neighborhoods, the Buceo neighborhood with its Yacht Harbor, the Yacht Club, Pocitos, Punta Carretas, and the Golf Club. Return to the hotel.
A full day in Colonia del Sacramento, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Colonia was founded by the Portuguese Empire over 300 years ago and was a source of discord between Portugal and Spain until 1777, when the Treaty of San Ildefonso left Colonia in the hands of the Kingdom of Spain. We'll visit the Street of Sighs, the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, the Bastion of San Pedro, Polvorín, the Lighthouse, the Spanish and Portuguese Museums, the Tile Museum, and more (tickets not included).
We'll also stroll along Rambla Costanera, Real de San Carlos with its ancient Bullring, San Benito Church, and the Port. Return to the city center and enjoy free time to stroll through the historic district and its picturesque streets. Lunch (optional). Return to the hotel at the agreed time.
All day in Punta del Este:
A tour of the beaches of Montevideo and Costa de Oro. Then we'll head to Punta Ballena to visit the famous Casa Pueblo museum, home to a sculpture by Uruguayan painter Carlos Paez Vilaro. Spectacular views of the beaches of Punta del Este and the surrounding area will be enjoyed. We'll stroll along Playa Mansa and the residential neighborhoods of Beverly Hills, El Golf, Cantegril, and San Rafael, with their spectacular mansions and summer homes. We'll continue through Barra de Maldonado with its colorful beach restaurants. We'll return along Playa Brava to the port and enter the Peninsula. After lunch (optional), free time to enjoy shopping and the art market.
At 4 pm we began our return to Montevideo.
