After hotel pickup, the tour begins with a visit to the historic center of the Brazilian beer capital. Among the attractions of this tour are the Biergarten, where the city began. Nearby, Avenida Duque de Caxias, also known as Avenida das Palmeiras, was the first planned street in the colony. The first imperial palm trees, brought from Rio de Janeiro, were planted in the center of the avenue in 1876. The Colonial Family Museum (optional visit), a cultural space that preserves a collection of 6,200 pieces belonging to the founder of Blumenau, the colonizers, and their families. Historic and well-preserved furniture, clothing, accessories, household utensils, and machinery are on display. At the back of the museum complex is the forest garden, where trees planted by the city's founder still stand, and the Cat Cemetery. Visit this cemetery, built by Edith, the great-niece of city founder Hermann Bruno Otto Blumenau (1819-99). She had a great affection for cats. When cats died, they were buried with a funeral procession. Over time, the site became a tourist attraction and a topic of national news.
Immediately following, a panoramic tour begins, with a 15-minute photo stop at the City Hall. Next, a visit to Vila Germânica Park, the site of Oktoberfest and other major events in Blumenau. There are shops selling souvenirs from the festival and other Germanic themes, as well as bars and cafes. Tourists will have plenty of time to explore the village. During the tour, there will be free time to shop for knitwear, liquor, and crafts. Lunch, not included, is recommended at Churrascaria Ataliba. Enjoy free time to shop for local artisanal products before a convenient ride back to your hotel in Balneário Camboriú.
