Must-See Itinerary in Mendoza: Nature, History, and Flavors
This itinerary offers a perfect combination of stunning natural landscapes, gastronomic experiences, and the best of Mendoza's winemaking tradition. Throughout the day, visitors have the opportunity to explore the breathtaking Villavicencio Nature Reserve and immerse themselves in the aromas and flavors of the region with visits to two wineries and an olive oil factory, all with guided tastings.
Villavicencio Protected Natural Reserve
Located in the foothills of the Andes Mountains, the Villavicencio Reserve is an environmental conservation area that protects native species and offers breathtaking landscapes. The tour begins with a drive along the famous curves known as "Caracoles de Villavicencio," a winding mountain road full of natural viewpoints and panoramic vistas that reveal all the beauty of the region.
During the ascent, a stop is made at the Mirante viewpoint, which offers a spectacular view of the valley, the mountains in the background, and the typical vegetation of the Andean biome. The scenery is ideal for photos and moments of contemplation.
Another emblematic point of the visit is the historic Hotel Villavicencio, surrounded by beautiful gardens and marked by its classic architecture. Although currently closed for lodging, the place remains a symbol of the golden age of Argentine thermal tourism, as well as a cultural and historical landmark.
Food and Wine Experience: Wineries and Olive Oils
After immersing themselves in nature, the itinerary continues with visits to two wineries in the region, where it's possible to learn firsthand about the production process of Mendoza wines—renowned worldwide for their quality, especially the Malbecs. Guided by experts, visitors learn about grape varieties, cultivation methods, fermentation, and aging. At each winery, the visit concludes with a carefully conducted tasting, allowing visitors to appreciate different labels and understand the sensory characteristics of each wine.
The tour also includes a stop at an artisanal olive oil factory, another typical and excellent product of Mendoza.
Visitors are invited to learn about the entire olive oil extraction process, from olive tree cultivation to pressing.
The experience also includes a tasting of extra virgin olive oils, often accompanied by bread or local products.
This itinerary is ideal for those who wish to experience Mendoza in a complete way: contemplating its natural beauty, exploring its historical heritage, and savoring the best that Mendoza has to offer.
An experience that combines nature, culture, and gastronomic pleasure in a single day.
