Take a journey back in time while learning about Jewish history. During this walking tour, you'll see several important sites, such as the Old Jewish Cemetery, the Old-New Synagogue, the Maisel Synagogue, the Spanish Synagogue, and the Pinkas Synagogue. See the only Jewish village in central Europe, the neighborhood that survived the Holocaust.
Stroll through the Old Jewish Cemetery and visit some synagogues. The Old Jewish Cemetery was founded in the first half of the 15th century. Its oldest tombstone (from 1439) marks the grave of the poet and scholar Avigdor Kara. The most prominent person buried here is Rabbi Liwa ben Bezalel, also known as Rabbi Löw. Walk down Maiselova Street to reach Old Town Square. The Old-New Synagogue was built in the early Gothic style in the mid-13th century. The main hall is the only surviving medieval room of its kind.
