On our tour of Medellín, the charming "City of Eternal Spring," we will experience a unique journey through one of the most innovative cities in Latin America. We will get to know firsthand an impressive story of overcoming adversity: a city that, just a few decades ago, was marked by violence linked to drug trafficking and gang disputes, and which today stands out as a model of urban transformation and social inclusion.
During the tour, we will learn a bit about the history of Medellín and enjoy incredible panoramic views of the city, reflecting its renewal. We will visit the famous Plaza Botero, where we will see the expressive sculptures of the Colombian master Fernando Botero, whose works have become a true icon of the city.
We will then proceed to Santo Domingo, a neighborhood we will reach via the cable car system, a transportation system that connects previously isolated communities. There, we will understand how urban mobility has contributed to improving the quality of life for the local population.
Next, we will go to Comuna 13, a striking example of social transformation, where we will see the public escalators—a pioneering initiative that facilitated access for residents to the higher areas of the neighborhood and became a symbol of progress. We will walk through streets full of life and color, adorned with urban art murals that tell the story of struggle, resistance, and hope of the people of Medellín.
We will also take a tour of the city's historic center, visiting iconic locations such as Parque Berrío, while listening to accounts and perspectives from residents themselves about the changes they have experienced.
It will be an enriching experience, in which we will learn about the social interventions of contemporary Medellín, reflect on its trajectory, and be inspired by the strength and pride of its people.
