- Excursion from Humahuaca de Jujuy to Purmamarca
A tour through an imposing ravine, where the hills are dominated by colors, thanks to thousands of years of oxidation of the minerals contained within. The villages, landscapes, culture, and people are the main protagonists of this excursion.
We'll travel to Humahuaca, a UNESCO World Heritage site located on the outskirts of Jujuy province, just a few kilometers from the Bolivian border. This excursion will allow us to appreciate the most impressive colors of northern Argentina, its culture, its unique cities, and its people.
We'll leave the city of Jujuy, taking National Route 9 and then entering and having the opportunity to visit the great Quebrada de Humahuaca, known for its imposing landscapes and picturesque towns such as Volcán, Purmamarca, where we'll find the majestic Cerro de los 7 Colores; Tilcara; Humahuaca, the largest town in the ravine; Uquía, a small town where the 17th-century church of San Francisco de Paula is located, where the ancient paintings of the Archangels of Cusco, Peru, painted during the colonial period, reside; Huacalera, where we enter the imaginary cut of the Tropic of Capricorn; and finally, La Palette del Pintor, in Maimará.
Humahuaca will be the longest stop, where you can savor the best regional dishes, especially llama meat, and also explore the city, where culture takes over the streets. Carnival is a major theme here, as it's the epicenter of the celebration.
After lunch, you start the way back, alternating stops.
During the tour there are stops to walk and take photos!
