- Guided tour of the Palace of Knossos – Half day

Meet your guide at the Cretan Spiti Travel terminal, opposite the entrance to the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, across from Hari's Creperie, at 8:30 AM. Then, depart by vehicle for approximately 5 km southeast of the city to visit the Palace of Knossos, built between 1700 and 1400 BC.
During its construction, advanced architectural techniques were used, and parts of the palace reached up to 5 stories. Settlements in Knossos date back to the Neolithic period, with remains dating from approximately 7,000 BC scattered throughout the island of Crete.
Explore the ruins of the ancient Minoan civilization. The Palace of Knossos had approximately 1,300 rooms interconnected by corridors, as well as a theater and extensive storehouses that held large clay containers containing oil, grains, dried fish, beans, and olives—often with gold hidden beneath them.
The site was discovered in 1878 by Minos Kalokairinos. Excavations at Knossos began in 1900 by the English archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans and his team, extending over 35 years.
After visiting the archaeological site, return to the Cretan Spiti Travel terminal at 11:30 am.
