Activity description
The Barcelona Olympic Museum is located on Montjuïc Mountain and offers a unique experience of sports (majority, minority, Olympic, and non-Olympic, such as soccer, motorcycling, Formula 1, skiing, cycling, canoeing, baseball, chess, tennis, etc.). This innovative museum offers visitors an overview of the different sports disciplines, using cutting-edge technology and interactive exhibits, as well as multimedia installations.
Through its interactive screens and displays, visitors can experience the sport and relive moments in the history of Olympic sport.
Thanks to their simulators, you can race against Carl Lewis or Usain Bolt, see how Mark Spitz or Michael Phelps swam, improve your aerodynamics while cycling, or compare the actual weight that great weightlifting champions can lift. A complete sports experience.
The museum also has a permanent exhibition on the Olympic host cities, from Barcelona 1992 to London 2012, and includes a glimpse of the first Olympics broadcast on television. During the tour, you can experience Barcelona 92, known as the greatest games in history. The archives at the Barcelona Olympic Museum on the "Cobi" and "Petra" Olympics are impressive, as expected: right down to the paraphernalia of the spectacular opening ceremony.
In the Idols section, you can find references, milestones, and elements of the best athletes and moments in history, and take part in activities as diverse as comparing the shoes of great athletes like Michael Jordan, Pau Gasol, and Roberto Dueñas, discovering the Samaranch collection, or enjoying live sports, among others.
Adapted sports for people with various types of disabilities occupy a prominent place in this museum. From Goalball (soccer for the blind and visually impaired, with a ball carrying a bell inside) to the first wheelchair competition, or this adapted sled, among many others.
