- Half a day in Rio de Janeiro by train
We’ll spend a morning enjoying some of Rio de Janeiro’s top attractions. We’ll start with a train ride to Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado Mountain, followed by a panoramic (outside) visit to Maracanã Stadium and additional stops at the Sambadrome, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Selarón Steps.
We will be picked up from one of the hotels in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro and driven to the Cosme Velho station to take the Corcovado Train. The train ride through the rainforest will take about 20 minutes, from the base station to the top of Corcovado Mountain, where we will arrive at Christ the Redeemer - one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
Once back at sea level, we’ll pass the legendary Maracanã football stadium (external tour) and head to the Sambadrome, home of Rio’s exciting Carnival. We’ll visit the distinctive Metropolitan Cathedral, a modern structure influenced by the Mayan pyramids, and see the colorful tiles of the world-famous Selarón Steps. We’ll conclude the tour with a stunning panorama of Rio de Janeiro.
