Are you an art lover? Want to discover the work of one of the most important artists of the 20th century? Then you can't miss this guided tour of the Picasso Museum in Barcelona.
The meeting point will be at the Fossar de les Moreres. From there, we'll head to the Picasso Museum for a pleasant stroll.
Although the Picasso Museum was initially housed in a single building, the Aguilar Palace, it has expanded over the years. It now comprises five different palaces, built between the 13th and 14th centuries. Just before entering the Picasso Museum, you can admire them all from the outside.
Once inside the Picasso Museum, we can learn about his artistic development, from his youth to his death, and also discover his time in Barcelona between 1895 and 1904. Did you know that the Picasso Museum was the first and only museum created during his lifetime as a painter? It's the perfect place to discover the details of the artist's life and career. Appreciate his artistic development through the collection, which comprises over 3,500 works and is the most comprehensive collection of works from his youth in the world.
With your guide's explanations, you will be able to learn about the five periods that marked Picasso's life: the Blue Period, the Rose Period, the Cubist Period, the Neoclassical Period and the Surrealist Period.
At the end of the visit to the Picasso Museum, we'll head to the Moco Museum, located right next to the Picasso Museum. Your guide will give you access tickets.
Visiting the Moco Museum is free, but you can download an audio guide to your phone to learn all the details about each of the works. You'll find works by well-known artists such as Banksy, Kaws, Andy Warhol, and Jean-Michele Basquiat. The museum's mission is to offer visitors a unique collection of art that inspires reflection on modern society.
Furthermore, the Moco Museum experience begins upon entering the site where it is located, the Cervelló Palace, a historic building in the city, where aristocrats, merchants, and royalty occupied this palace from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.
