- Argolis (Epidaurus and Mycenae) Tour with Lunch
We will visit the northeastern part of the Peloponnese Peninsula, through the famous Corinth Canal, which connects the Gulf of Corinth to the Saronic.
After a brief stop at the Corinth Canal, we will go back three thousand years to visit the Acropolis of Mycenae. The visit begins with the Tomb of the Atridae and then, passing through the imposing Lions Gate, we will enter the “city rich in gold” as described by Homer, where we will be able to admire the Cyclopean walls.
Later, we will delve into the culture of the 4th century BC, admiring the Theater of Epidaurus, which with a capacity for almost 16,000 spectators, is famous for its acoustics and is the best preserved from antiquity. Epidaurus was one of the most important pilgrimage centers of antiquity, because here was the most famous sanctuary dedicated to the god of medicine Asclepius. The theater is part of the Sanctuary, theatrical performances were part of the therapeutic process.
Lunch is included in the tour (drinks to be paid locally).
