- Climbing the Cerro Otto cable car from Bariloche
Just 5 kilometers from downtown Bariloche is the Lower Station of the legendary Cerro Otto Cable Car, a fascinating lift consisting of 42 panoramic gondolas. Each gondola, with a capacity of four passengers, travels 2,100 meters to the top of the mountain.
At the summit, 1,405 meters above sea level, stands the famous rotating bakery, the only one in the country. With a fully glazed structure, it completes a complete 360° rotation in 20 minutes, offering visitors the opportunity to admire the surrounding landscape while enjoying delicious hot chocolate and a selection of regional delicacies.
From there, the view is breathtaking: to the north, the city of Bariloche and Lake Nahuel Huapi stand out; to the east, the Leones and Villegas hills can be seen, as well as the Patagonian steppe; to the south, Lake Gutiérrez and neighboring hills can be seen; and, to the west, Cerro Catedral, Lake Moreno, and the majestic Andes Mountains.
Additionally, at the top of the hill, visitors can explore an art gallery that permanently displays replicas of Michelangelo Buonarroti's three most iconic works: David, La Piedad, and Moses.
