At 8:30 am we will be picked up from our hotels or cruise ships to the “Mykonian Farm”, a traditional farm in the village of Ano Mera, where we will receive the appropriate equipment: backpack, water bottle, food packets and the traditional “hook” or rod (walking stick). ) for our support during the journey.
We will also have a brief tour of the gardens and farm animals.
At 9:15 am, our adventure begins!
The car will take us to the first point, where we will take a 1,450 meter walk to “Maou” farm at 10am.
Our journey continues through the streets of Maou, between states of culture and traditional houses.
At this point, we will be able to observe amateur fishermen on the edge of Dam Lake, an integral part of the incredible landscape, along with various animals that walk carefree among us.
At 10:30 am we should arrive at the second panoramic point, the Dam. Here we will have already walked 4,150 meters. We will have additional information and, after a short rest, we will continue to the third point.
At 950 meters and totaling 5,100 meters from the start, on Mersini beach. After this point, we will move on to more challenging paths, after a 15-minute break to swim, we will continue to “The Wind”, our fourth point that totals 6,100 meters from the start.
From there, we will have a panoramic view of the islands of Ikaria, Samos and Tinos as we climb, along with views of the large holes in the hillside created by ancient granite mines.
Around 1pm, we will reach the highest point of our hike (at The Wind).
After the impressively cool breeze at our last stop, the fifth point is the farm at 7,300 meters from the start of our adventure.
We will pass through pastures with horses and the small and picturesque blue chapel. It is here that we will have our lunch break on the terrace, in the shade of a large Eucalyptus tree, while admiring the most impressive farm on the island.
After half an hour of rest, we will gear up again for our sixth and final point, where we will finish 9,800 meters of walking, “Estaleiros Do Olmo” (Shipyards of Elm), where amateur fishermen protect their boats and the adjacent beach for a fortification swim .
Here we will end our adventure.
The car will pick us up at around 2pm and take us to our starting point and to the Mykonian Spiti if we choose the traditional lunch option, where a hearty meal will be waiting for us, with similar festivities and, of course, an analysis of the day and all the experiences we had with our unique hiking adventure.
