Discover the ancient secrets of northern Argentina on an unforgettable journey through the Calchaquí Valleys. We begin our journey through the fertile sugarcane heartland of Tucumán, heading south along the iconic National Route 38. The climb into the valleys begins along the winding Route 307, which enters the impressive Quebrada del Río Los Sosa. There, we stop to contemplate the majestic "El Indio" monument, framed by a lush mountain forest. We continue to El Mollar, where mysterious menhirs await us, vestiges of an ancient culture. We then arrive at the charming town of Tafí del Valle, surrounded by mountains and vibrant traditions. We zigzag up the Abra del Infiernillo, reaching 3,042 meters above sea level, to enter the arid and fascinating landscapes of the Calchaquí Valleys. In Amaicha del Valle, we explored its main square and streets steeped in history, with free time to visit the original Pachamama Museum, a work of art in itself. Finally, after connecting to the legendary Route 40, we arrived at the imposing Sacred City of Quilmes: an archaeological gem spread across the hillside. We walked through its reconstructions, admiring the fortress at the top and the defensive forts. In this legendary place, we relive the spirit of a people who bravely resisted the conquest, leaving an indelible legacy in the ancestral memory of northern Argentina.
