- City Tour in El Calafate
We'll begin our tour with a walk through the city, exploring its most traditional sites. Our first stop will be Punta Walichu, an archaeological site located 8 km away. Here, we'll be able to observe the remains left by the region's first inhabitants. The walk along the coast reveals original and reproduction cave paintings, as well as providing spectacular views of Lake Argentino and the Andes.
The tour also includes the main streets of the old town, where we'll see the earliest buildings typical of the pioneers and the current buildings of the civic center. Along the way, the guide will transport us back in time, sharing stories of the early settlers and highlighting the flora, fauna, and other fascinating aspects of this charming tourist village.
We'll visit the Paseo Costero and Redonda Bay, located just a few meters from the shores of Lake Argentino. This area offers the opportunity to observe the rich local birdlife in its natural habitat.
To conclude, we'll stop at the Historical Interpretation Center. Through a self-guided tour, we'll explore the most significant events in local history, from the Ice Age to the present day. This will be a unique opportunity to delve into the history of El Calafate, located on the shores of Lake Argentino.
