The tour begins with a cruise along the North Branch of Lake Argentino to the mouth of the Upsala Channel, where we can admire the grandeur of the Upsala Glacier, one of the most important in Los Glaciares National Park. Located on the northwest shore of the lake, at the end of the Cristina Branch, Estancia Cristina offers a unique setting. Founded in 1914 by Joseph P. Masters and his wife, the Estancia preserves the essence of the history of this pioneering family, who transformed an inhospitable place into a true paradise.
A visit to Estancia Cristina combines nature, adventure, history, and pleasure. After the navigation, we begin a 4x4 climb to the Continental Ice Refuge, traveling 9.5 km along a mountain road that traverses a landscape of great geological interest, once covered by glaciers. During the climb, we reach an elevation of 550 meters.
Upon arrival at the refuge, we hike for about 20 minutes through glacial erosion terrain, which takes us to the Upsala Glacier viewpoint. From this point, we enjoy a privileged view of the glacier front, Lake Guillermo, the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, and the Andes Mountains. We then return to the Estancia in 4x4 vehicles.
At the Estancia, we visited the Costumbrista Museum, housed in a former shearing shed, where the history of the property is told. Afterwards, we took a guided hike to the Caterina River and visited the chapel and historic center of the Estancia.
Between activities, there is free time for lunch, which can be booked in advance or brought by the participants themselves.

The tour operates daily, departing at 7:30 am, with the exception of December 24th, 25th and 31st, January 1st.
Transfers are included for all hotels in El Calafate. Transfers to temporary apartments are not included.
It is recommended to arrive 15 minutes before the agreed meeting point time.
Hotel check-out times are approximate. Passengers should always include their phone number when booking so they can be contacted by the Destination Coordinator to confirm their exact check-out time.
The tour may be canceled or rescheduled in case of adverse weather conditions.
